Anton Bozhuk
Мember of the ‘Humanitarian Policy’ working group of the Crimean Platform Expert Network, PhD in Philology, lecturer at the Language Training Chair, Bogomolets National Medical University.
A.Bozhuk is a research historian and leading expert on the study of the Ukrainian identity in Crimea, whose work focuses on the systematic documentation of the Russian Federation’s humanitarian crimes in the temporarily occupied territories. Being a competent analyst A.Bozhuk carries out the professional monitoring of processes of linguicide, the militarisation of the civilian education, and the deconstruction of the Russian propaganda myths used to legitimise the annexation. A.Bozhuk thoroughly records the facts proving the destruction of the national identity of Ukrainians and indigenous peoples, hence, this work provides substantial evidence of violations of international law in the cultural and educational field.
The research approach by A.Bozhuk is of high academic scrutinity and it brings back the little-known chapters of the Ukrainian resistance to the occupation of the Temporarily Occupied Territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol into the Ukrainian discussion, as well as the names of the actors whose legacy has been silenced or falsified for decades. Working with archives, A.Bozhuk restores the continuity of Ukraine’s cultural presence in Crimea and effectively counters the disinformation, combining academic depth with an operational analysis of contemporary challenges. The work by A.Bozhuk makes a significant contribution to the protection of Ukraine’s cultural sovereignty and the preservation of the national memory of Crimea as an integral part of the united state.
