Kateryna Yaresko
SeaKrime investigative project, Myrotvorets Centre, which investigates unlawful actions by the occupying forces in Crimea and the Donbas, including
– illegal shipping activities in the Black and Azov Seas,
– the illegal export of Ukrainian grain by the russian occupiers (including via transshipment hubs),
– the policy of russian shipping companies in 2021 aimed at increasing the number of vessels to facilitate the subsequent export of goods from the occupied territories and unloading Crimea’s grain elevator.
Ms Yaresko consistently advocates the need to seek new political and legal instruments to address this issue (in the field of maritime law, through the International Maritime Organisation, in the context of diplomatic negotiations) and to improve the state policy in this area, emphasizing the need to work on this track with countries in the Middle East and Africa that import the grain in question.
The SeaKrime project is a voluntary initiative; Kateryna Yaresko is Head of the Chair of Business Journalism and Digital Media at the Semen Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, she teaches Investigative Journalism, and conducts training sessions on OSINT.
