Oleksandr Khara
Oleksandr Khara, a fellow of the Centre of Defence Strategies (since 2021) and a Deputy Chair of the Black Sea Institute of Strategic Studies (since 2017). His area of expertise is security in the Black Sea Region, de-occupation of Crimea, and Ukraine – US relations. He was an Advisor to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine (2020); an expert of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs think tank (2014-19); an executive assistant to an M.P. (2011-14); a Deputy Director-General for Foreign Affairs at the Office of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (2008-11); a State expert at the Office of the NSDC (2006-08); a diplomat with the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine (2000-06). Oleksandr is a member of the 2010 Royal College of Defence Studies course (London), and a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine (M.A.) and the Donetsk State Academy of Management (B.A.).
